
Himachal Pradesh Police Takes Proactive Steps to Ensure Law and Order in the State
Sanjay Kundu, the Director General of Police, met with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan to discuss the state of law and order in Himachal Pradesh. During the meeting, Kundu briefed the governor about the various initiatives taken by the State police to maintain public order, internal security, and other issues in the State.
Kundu highlighted the state police’s efforts to maintain a robust presence in the Indo-China border areas of Himachal Pradesh. He added that the police had taken measures under a comprehensive plan to strengthen their deployment in these areas. A team of police officers had also visited these areas and prepared an important report in this regard, he informed the governor.
The DGP also emphasized the state police’s sensitivity to the matter of drug abuse and drug trafficking, and strict action was being taken against the individuals involved in these illegal activities. He also highlighted the police’s commitment to addressing crimes against women and children and ensuring road safety through the traffic police. The police were also taking strong action against organized crimes, particularly illegal mining, Kundu added.
During the meeting, the DGP informed the Governor about a recent meeting with the Director General of Police of Punjab, where it was decided to collaborate to deal with drug smugglers, gangsters, and criminals in the border areas of both the states. The police have strengthened their network on both sides to tackle these issues.
The Governor commended the efforts of the Himachal Pradesh Police and expressed hope that they would continue to work vigorously to make Devbhoomi free from crime.
Secretary to Governor Rajesh Sharma was also present during the meeting.
