Developers of many award-winning games like God of War, Fortnite, The Last of Us Part II, Destiny, Uncharted 4: Thief’s End, and more have formed a new studio ‘That’s No Moon’. And even the South Korean developer and publisher Simelgate, the creator of Crossfire Franchise investing more than $100 million in their studio and their first project AAA single adventure. They have named the company from the famous quote of Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: A New Hope.
That’s No Moon Team
That’s No Moon studio is co-founded by Michael Mumbauer, Tina Kowalewski, Taylor Kurosaki, and Nick Kononelos. The headquarters of That’s No Moon studio is in Los Angeles. Michael Mumbauer was previously designated as Head of Playstation’s Visual Arts Group and now he will lead the company as CEO. Tina Kowalewski was the director of product development at Sony Santa Monica and now she will be Chief Strategy Officer.
Taylor Kurosaki served as Studio Narrative director in Infinity Ward and worked for Naughty Dog and now will serve as Chief Creative Officer. And Nick Kononelos was a Senior Development Director at Electronic Arts and will serve as Chief Operating Officer.
The other team members are Barry Genova(was Foundation Engineering Lead at Bungie) as Chief Technology Officer, George Allison (was Head of Finance for Playstation’s Global Services Division) as a Chief Financial Officer, Jacob Minkoff (was Narrative Director of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare) as a Chief Design Officer and Game Director, and there more team members.
The creator of Crossfire Franchise, Simelagate investing in That’s No Moon studio and their first project will be AAA single-player, story-driven, third-person action-adventure game. Details are not given by the studio but many are speculating that it could be a new entry in the Star Wars franchise.
The That’s No Moon has been working with only 40 staff for the past six months, and now they are planning to grow to 100 members by 2022. This was also confirmed by Jacob Minkoff tweet as you can see below:
Aim of That’s No Moon
That’s No Moon company aims to develop games in which stories are not limited by any medium but create characters and a world in gamers that eventually extend to linear media whether its TV, film, or beyond.
