ELDER RING TEASER
A new six-second teaser for From Software’s Elden Ring has surfaced online, with the developer’s parent company implying that the game will be released this fiscal year.
The new leaked film, which originated on the 4Chan forum and has since been widely shared on social media, shows off-screen gameplay with the same Bandai Namco confidential watermark as the Elden Ring video that leaked in March.
It’s conceivable that the clip is part of the same leak, which was said to represent more than a year’s worth of work-in-progress footage and therefore isn’t representative of a forthcoming reveal.
Release Soon
Since its announcement at E3 2019, the widely awaited Souls spin-off has remained unseen. However, Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of From, hinted in its latest financial results released on Friday that it could be released within the next 12 months.
Kadokawa has confirmed that new games will be released during the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2022. It also announced that some of its games had been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact.
We understand that Elden Ring has been delayed several times internally due to disruption caused by the pandemic, as VGC first stated in March.
People familiar with the game’s growth told VGC earlier this year that remote working restrictions in Japan, which have been in effect for a year, had slowed production significantly.
According to a source close to the game’s production, Elden Ring is unlikely to be released this calendar year due to the disruption.
FROM Software’s Largest Game
Elden Ring is a fantasy action-RPG that was announced at E3 2019 and is described as From Software’s largest game to date.
The game is set in a world created in collaboration with George R.R. Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire, who was tasked with creating Elden Ring’s lore rather than writing the storey.
Evolution of Dark Souls
Elden Ring, according to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, is “an evolution” of the Dark Souls series he produced. Although Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the spiritual heirs to Dark Souls, brought new concepts to the table, Miyazaki claims that From Software’s upcoming game goes far further.
