Today is probably the first time we’ve seen Starfield, Bethesda’s first new unique universe in over 25 years. As the name implies, Starfield is set in space, and a new teaser trailer indicates that it will be released on November 11th, 2022, only on Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Washington Post initially published the trailer just minutes before Microsoft’s Xbox + Bethesda event.
While the teaser doesn’t show much gameplay, according to Bethesda’s Todd Howard, you’ll be a part of a crew named Constellation in Starfield, which is “the last bunch of space explorers.” Bethesda characterizes the game as one in which “you’ll be who you want, go where you want.” It’s about the last set of space explorers, and Bethesda is releasing a teaser site today with more details on Starfield.
A separate video from The Washington Post, which was also released early, gives an inside look at the making of Starfield. According to Bethesda, “it’s a game we’ve always wanted to play,” and Starfield is only now becoming a reality thanks to “the hardware, the technology, and the experience” needed to offer a game set in space. Bethesda’s new Creation Engine 2 will also be used in Starfield.
