Dell has recently added two new laptops – 14-inch Latitude 5430 Rugged and 13-inch Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme – to its Business Latitude Lineup. Both laptops, designed to work in harsh environments, run on 11th Gen Intel Core processors with optional vPro, and will be available starting on December 9, 2021.
Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged
A strong 14-inch semi-rugged laptop with 5G connectivity is launching with several Intel Tiger Lake processes such as Core i5-1235G7, Core i5-1145G7, and Core i7-1185G7 with optional Nvidia Quadro T500 graphics. It will carry 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of DDR4-3200 dual channel SODIMM RAM and a 2TB of SSD storage.
The Latitude 5430 Rugged laptop consists of two hot-swappable (replace one without turning off the laptop) batteries of 53.5 Wh which will provide usage of 25 hours on a charge.
Coming on display specs, it will provide two options – a non-touch, 400-nit panel and a touchscreen display with 1100-nits of brightness to make its display comfortable in any outdoor environment.
This 1.97 kg laptop is IP53- rated to survive dust, dirt, and water. The drop-test is made from three feet to meet MIL-STD-810 standards. The company has also tested the laptop with several conditions like vibrations, humidity, shock, water, and thermal extremes so that it can face any of these things.
For connectivity, it has many ports, thunderbolt, Ethernet, smart card reader, WiFi 6E, and an optional 5G powered by the Snapdragon X55 5G modem. The FirstNet network with Band 14 is also available to access connectivity during emergencies.
Dell Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme
The 13-inch Dell Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme possesses many features same as that of the Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged such as 5G connectivity and choices between several Intel Tiger Lake processors. Talking about RAM, you can select between 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB LPDDR4X-4266 RAM options and up to 2TB of SSD storage.
Like the Latitude 5430 Rugged, it also has two hot-swappable batteries with the usage of 25 hours on a charge, plenty of ports, and cellular connectivity including FirstNet.
A full HD display with a touchscreen feature is provided with a maximum of 1400-nits of brightness making it more comfortable to use in any outdoor environment.
The Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme has IP65 water and dust resistance with a MIL-STD-810 H rating for durability. The drop-test for this unit is from 1.82 meters with a total of 78 drops for the test. The laptop is also tested against blowing rain, sand, dust, vibrations, salt fog, humidity, explosive atmosphere, solar radiation, etc. This means the Dell Latitude 7330 Rugged Extreme is designed to face pretty much anything.
The pricing of these two laptops is not announced yet by Dell, but they will be made globally available to order on December 9, 2021, and will ship with Microsoft’s latest Windows 11.
