Over the years, the legendary superhero Spider-Man has spawned plenty of video games. Fans of Spider-Man have been spoiled in recent years thanks to Insomniac Games’ take on the hero, but one fan is attempting to incorporate all of the best elements of the different games into a single product.
The public’s opinion of Spider-Man games is currently favourable. Spider-Man: Miles Morales, released last year, has been a best seller for months, outselling even prestige titles like The Last of Us Part II. On the big screen, Spider-Man is still a force to reckon with. It goes without saying that now is an ideal opportunity to be a fan of Marvel’s iconic web-slinger. That being said, it has sparked a lot of imagination among fans who want to express their love for the character in some way.
Despite the fact that Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are very detailed, gibb0 obviously has a lot of passion for the character and the world which he has tried to emulate to the best of his ability. There’s still a lot of work to be done before it can be called a “full game,” but it’s off to a great start. Given that it’s a Marvel property, it’s unclear whether or not there are any plans to make it available as a free download once it’s done.
Though superhero fan games are very popular, fans also have to get creative about how they show their fan game in order to avoid legal issues. For example, Undefeated, a recent free-to-play Steam game, closely resembles Superman. Insomniac hasn’t confirmed a new game in the series, but it appears that a Spider-Man sequel is in the works. It’s not out of the bounds of imagination that gibb0’s work will attract Insomniac’s attention on its own. Perhaps the next Spider-Man game will have a modernized version of the pizza delivery mini-game.
