Sony has announced that the latest entry in Polyphony Digital’s long-running Gran Turismo franchise and its PlayStation-exclusive racing sim franchise, Gran Turismo 7, has delayed for 2022 release window, after getting impacted by the pandemic.
In a statement, Sony spokesperson said to GQ that:
“GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.”
Sony announced Gran Turismo 7 at the big PS5 reveal last year and then planned to release it in early 2021. Gran Turismo Sport for PS4 was the last entry in the franchise, which debuted back in 2017.
