IO Interactive the developer of Hitman 3 has outlined the new modes coming to their assassin sequel, and if you’ve played the previous two games then the list will look familiar. However, one of the modes isn’t making the cut, and another will see some changes.
Details given by IO Interactive about Hitman 3 and it’s multiple game modes
In a recent post on their website, IO Interactive has given some further details about Hitman 3 and it’s multiple game modes. Which includes the return of Elusive Targets, Contracts Mode, and more. Elusive Targets will return means that once again there will be time-limited unique targets that you’ll be able to track and eliminate as they pop up.
However, the developer also says that they are “making some changes to the Elusive Target formula,” which will be revealed, “at a later date.” It’s still unclear what this means or whether in Hitman 3 we’ll have more than one chance to take down these targets.
Escalations, Contracts, and Sniper Assassin are all returning. Considering IO’s descriptions, these modes will be largely the same as the previous games, although co-op will be cut from Sniper Assassin, and making it only a single-player experience.
IO’s decision to end server support for co-op Sniper Assassin and Ghost Mode in Hitman 2
IO Interactive also reveals that they have made a decision to end server support for both co-op Sniper Assassin and Ghost Mode in Hitman 2 before Hitman 3. Ghost Mode doesn’t have very long at all and it’ll be shuttered on August 31, meaning that the competitive mode will no longer be playable. Now The Phantom Suit, which can only be unlocked in this mode, will be added to Hitman 3 as a potential unlockable.
An exact time frame for the end of co-op Sniper Assassin has not been revealed yet, but the developer is working on a solution to the game having multiplayer trophies that are locked to this mode. A solution to the same will be shared in the coming months. Hitman 3 will give access to all levels from its previous two Hitman games (if you own them) when it releases on January 21, 2021.
