Resident Evil Village Breaks Twitch & Steam Records

Resident Evil Village on Fire

The game has set new highs for the franchise on both platforms with more viewers on Twitch watching the game at one time than any other previous Resident Evil games while the concurrent players on Steam similarly set a franchise peak.

On both platforms, the game has set record records for the series, with more Twitch viewers watching the game at one time than any previous Resident Evil game, and concurrent Steam players setting a new franchise high.

Steam Database Shares Data

The data comes from the Steam Database, which keeps track of new releases on Steam, as well as how well they’re doing on Twitch. We can see the Village has already surpassed its all-time high of 101,726 active players. In contrast, when Resident Evil 7 was released, it had a peak of 20,449 players on Steam.

Increased Popularity in Twitch

The numbers on Twitch support this theory. Although Twitch has increased in popularity and drawn more viewers over the years, you’d think that more people would be interested in watching Resident Evil 7, considering that it was the franchise’s first entry and Resident Evil Village is the sequel. Village, on the other hand, blew 7 out the water in this group.

Resident Evil Village

On January 23rd, the day that Resident Evil 7 began to be released in some regions, the game had 224,481 Twitch viewers, but Village has already surpassed that amount, with 658,703 Twitch viewers.

Ranked No.4

Village is currently ranked No. 4 in the ranking of the most common categories on Twitch in comparison to everything else. Just a few projected contenders who consistently hold the top spots will beat it: League of Legends, which consistently generates large numbers and is currently hosting a major esports championship, Just Chatting, which is a mainstay in the top three, and Fortnite are both in the top three.
