TikTok is committed to a year-long collaboration with Forest Immersive Gaming Habitat Team (FIGHT Esports), a global sports organizer, to make video gaming more publicly available than ever before.
The collaboration starts with the inaugural #TikTokGPH Creator Cup Tournament jointly organized by TikTok Philippines and Battle Esports. The Creator Cup, which will take place inside Valorant, will take place on February 27 and 28, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. (GMT+8), and the entire event will be live streaming to TikTok Gaming Ground PH (TikTok GGPH) via @tiktokggphofficial. To lift the ante, TikTok Philippines is promising a $1,000 bonus pool to be awarded to the winner, 1st runner up, and 2nd runner up of the tournament.
“TikTok continues to explore ways to inspire imagination and bring joy to all the Filipinos. As gaming is actively becoming a meaningful means of community building and enjoyment, we are pleased to play our part in providing the growing gaming community with a forum for education, positive interactions, and engagement” John Castro, Gaming Operations Manager for the Philippines, said.
“TikTok is quickly becoming a place where people make, share, and appreciate a different kind of experience.
It also makes a lot of sense for us to use TikTok to reach out to the gaming community and give them the chance to communicate and express their excitement with fellow gamers around the world. This will create a new and creative sports experience where they will watch and engage with their favorite gaming content makers, tap into live-stream sports competitions, and enjoy sports in ways that have never been achieved before” Noted Chantal-Denise Ortega, Project Manager of Battle.
Prior to the tournament, a video campaign was released in the TikTok app as part of the official #TikTokGPH reveal.
From February 12 to 28, developers on the site will be able to post a video that captures their gaming style perfectly and shows the world just what it’s like to be a gamer. To apply, creators must use the #TikTokGPH hashtag when uploading their video entries. At the conclusion of the campaign era, 20 creators will be chosen to become part of TikTok’s gamers’ network, based on the level of enthusiasm for gaming and the artistic ability they see in their videos.
