Update: Xiaomi in a Q&A posted on its Weibo page today, answered some of the questions related to the battery degradation issue with its 200W HyperCharge fast charging solution. According to the company, a phone battery after going through 800 charging and discharging cycles at 200W could lose “20%” of its original battery capacity. Meaning a phone with a 5,000mAh battery will have roughly around 4,000mAh capacity left after using 200W charging for 2 years.
However, Xiaomi claims that the impact of its ‘HyperCharge’ on the phone’s battery health is not an issue within the Chinese regulatory standard for battery degradation. As it requires smartphone batteries to retain at least 60% of their original capacity after 400 cycles. It’s not as bad as one might have thought, but could be an issue for those who don’t change their phone often.
Original Article: Xiaomi has dropped this crazy 200W HyperCharge which surprisingly charges the phone completely in 8 minutes. Well, one might have expected the HyperCharge to be around 150W or mostly 180W, but progress is always welcome. Moreover, if you want to charge wirelessly then it will do this in just 15 minutes. Also with this new crazy fastest charging technology, Xiaomi has set a new world record for both wired and wireless charging speeds.
Xiaomi reveals 200W HyperCharge
As per the official video released by Xiaomi itself, it shows the Mi 11 Pro with a 4000mAh battery that charges to 10% in the first 44 seconds, 50% in 3 minutes, and 100% in 8 minutes. While talking about wireless charging it takes 15 minutes to completely charge and in just 7 minutes it almost charges to 50%.
When in 2019 Xiaomi came up with the 100W system that was capable of charging 4000mAh battery in 17 minutes, it just breakthroughs the market and so in 2020 Oppo also entered the competition with a much higher ability of 125W wired fast charging pushing Xiaomi back. But now Xiaomi has made an explicit comeback with the 200W HyperCharge rising to a great extent.
Well for now the 200W HyperCharge will not be available for the commercial release and even talking about its current 120W charging technology, it is also confined to the Mi 10 Ultra only till now due to some issues related to a severe reduction in battery lifespan.
