Earlier today, Sony just wrapped up its much-anticipated PlayStation Showcase 2021, where it revealed the first gameplay trailer for God of War Ragnarok; surprising reveals like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games, updates about Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, GTA 5 and much more.
All in all, the showcase was absolutely worth the wait. And for those who missed the jam-packed 40-min live stream, here’s everything announced by Sony during the PlayStation Showcase 2021. We’ve made sure that you don’t miss a single one, so let’s get started.
God of War Ragnarok
Sony Santa Monica Studio has finally unveiled a brand-new gameplay trailer for the much-awaited sequel to 2018’s God of War now officially called “God of War Ragnarok.” The trailer shows Kratos and Atreus’ new adventure, set a few years after 2018’s God of War, and also gave us a look at new villains named Freya and Thor himself.
As per the studio players will get to visit all nine realms (incusing Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard) in this sequel along with new areas in the locations of the previous game. God of War Ragnarok is set to release sometime in 2022 on both PS5 and PS4.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
PlayStation Showcase 2021 revealed that the highly rumored Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is officially heading exclusively to PS5 and PC. Developer Aspyr and the original team members of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic are working on this remake. However, there’s no release date just yet. The game first arrived on Xbox in 2003.
Project Eve
Project Eve, an ambitious action RPG that looks very similar to games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry, receive a new gameplay trailer at the showcase. Project Eve takes place in the near future and “To win back Earth, the player becomes Eve, the survivor of the paratrooper squad deployed from the Colony, who must fight through powerful enemies with new comrades.”
It’s a game full of massive weapons, and even bigger combos and moves as you battle a horror show of monsters.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
Borderland spin-off “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands” also got a new gameplay trailer at the Playstation Showcase 2021, giving players and J-RPG fans a hint about what they can expect from the game. Along with this, it was also revealed that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 25, 2022.
Forspoken
Square Enix shared a new gameplay trailer for Forspoken (previously “Project Athia”), a fantasy action-adventure title, featuring its protagonist, Frey Holland, who got transported from New York City to a fantasy world called Athia. Forspoken will arrive on PS5 in Spring 2022.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Insomniac Games revealed the first gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, where we can see both Peter and Miles teaming up to fight crime and sequels key villain Venom (voiced by Candyman’s Tony Todd). Spider-Man 2 will launch exclusively on PS5 in 2023.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Surprise Surprise, At Playststion Showcase 2021 Insomniac Games revealed that they’re developing a new Wolverine game which will be directed by Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Brian Horton and Cameron Christian. The game has no official title neither a release window. However, I’m sure that the teaser trailer alone should have both PS5 owners and Marvel fans excited.
On second thought, I think this will be connected to the Spider-Man universe, and if that is so, we might see a Hulk and Wolverine in the same game. Well, I’m not sure but do tell us in the comment section what you think!
Rainbow Six: Extraction
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, set to be released in January 2022, got a fresh trailer showcasing a variety of creatures, a look at the titular extraction mechanic, and some of the returning Rainbow Six tactics like barricades and other gadgets.
Alan Wake Remastered
As expected recently announced Alan Wake Remaster got the first gameplay with improved graphics will no doubt make everything even more creepy in Bright Falls. Alan Wake Remastered will launch first time for Playstion along with Xbox and PC (via Epics Games Store exclusively) on October 5, 2021.
Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online
Now it’s not a typing error, we have got a look at the PS5 upgrade (probably Xbox Series X|S upgrade too) of GTA 5 again (no GTA 6 as of now), showcasing improved graphics and enhanced gameplay, and seamless character switching. However, the upgrade has been delayed, but the good news is that the standalone version of GTA Online will be available for all PS5 players with PlayStation Plus for the first three months when it arrives in March 2022.
Ghostwire: Tokyo
The next game from Tango Gameworks is Ghostwire: Tokyo, which got a new gameplay trailer at the show giving viewers more details on the first-person combat and the story. The game will be released sometime in 2022 for PC and PS5 as a timed console exclusive.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
Completing the trio of Marvel announcement, and ahead of its release, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy got a new gameplay trailer showcasing Peter (Starlord) and the gang rolling through space including a cameo of Cosmo the Dog.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will launch on October 26 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt
Bloodhunt, a free-to-play multiplayer battle royale game set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, got a gameplay trailer at Playstation Showcase 2021. Bloodhunt is now available on PC (as early access title) and will release on PS5 sometime in 2021.
Deathloop
Ahead of its launch on September 14, Deathloop got a new launch trailer at the showcase.
Kid A Nmesia
Kid A Nmesia Exhibition is a mysterious interactive experience from both Epic Games, and Radiohead described as “an upside-down digital/analog universe created from original artwork and recordings to commemorate 21 years of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac”. It will release on PS5 in November 2021.
Tchia
Tchia, an adorable tropical open-world adventure game, inspired by New Caledonia stars a young girl with the power to take control of inanimate objects and various animals.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, set to release on PS5 and PC in early 2022, consists of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: Lost Legacy from PS4, both of which are being remastered for the first time since their respective launches.
Gran Turismo 7
Finally, we got a release date for Gran Turismo 7 at the PlayStation Showcase 2021, along with a lengthy trailer showcasing a strong selection of impeccably shiny cars. Gran Turismo 7 will launch on both PS5 and PS4 on March 22, 2022.
