Fitbit: New Updates
Google and Fitbit are coming together to bridge the gap between the two distinct wearable platforms, although the acquisition deal might still be incomplete. Operating System on the Fitbit is still theirs but version 5.1, the latest update, brings Google’s Wear OS closer to at least two of its smartwatches. Fitbit is now opening the Sense’s and Versa 3’s doors to Google Assistant going beyond Amazon Alexa while making the smartwatches even better than before by adding more health monitoring features.
Fitbit: Market of its Own
Although the competition in the market for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant is neck and neck but some will prefer to use one over the other owing to its dependencies on other devices available at home. Support for Google Assistant is added on Fitbit OS 5.1 to give its customer more choices so that you can control your smart home devices, get information about weather and news, or even reserve a service appointment or restaurant even if one doesn’t have a Wear OS smartwatch. The US is the only country for the while to get this feature with an expansion to other markets later this year.
Fitbit: Alluring Alexa Users
A temporary bait is given by Fitbit to the Alexa users in the update bringing the ability to receive audible replies from Alexa for time being. This is the new feature that will be coming in the first half of 2021 as per Fitbit to its Google Assistant implementation.
A new capability to the smartwatches beyond smart assistant features in the update also brings SpO2 sensor. Even while sleeping, a user can measure blood oxygen levels and will be able to track their levels in the Fitbit mobile app or another option of glancing coming later this year on one of the seven new SpO2 clock faces.
Update with More Features to Explore
Fitbit is considered the granddaddy of all the smart wearables and this update was expected to be in the market earlier as it was already available to Apple Watch. A major market share is still retained by the company especially for those users who are hardly concerned about smartwatch apps. Furthermore, exploration was given by the latest Fitbit OS 5.1 update with more things to do with their devices.
