Twitter is working on tweet emoji reactions similar to what Facebook offers. According to app researcher Jane Manchun Wong -who also revealed some details about the $3 Twitter Blue service – Twitter could be adding some new emojis for “ Likes”, “cheer”, “Hmm”, “Haha”, and “Sad”. Similar to reactions that Facebook is using since 2016.
But as reported by The Verge, Jane Wong’s revelation clearly shows that Twitter might be taking a slightly different path when it comes to which mood it would want users to expel since it is having laughing and sad expressions in common with Facebook. Based on the tweet by Wong, this feature will display the different tweet reactions along with the number of reactions received.
Twitter may also include makes-you-think and cheer options but doesn’t seem to have the “angry” expression that Facebook has. By adding such emoji reactions, Twitter might be going to look more like Facebook. There was a survey made a few months ago when Twitter asked fans about new emoji reactions. In a reply to a request for comment, Twitter told us the same thing that it did last time, it is “always exploring additional ways for people to express themselves in conversations”.
Even so, this is not finalized that when Twitter will launch its new feature. Currently, it seems that Twitter is busy with its new features. There have been rumors about the premium $3 Blue subscription service. So, it would be interesting to see new emoji reactions.
