OnePlus 9 series launched at March 23 launch event
OnePlus has just unveiled its latest OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 9R smartphones during a live streamed launch event today. As predicted, OnePlus has teamed up with Hasselblad, a legendary camera manufacturer. The two companies would ultimately cooperate to create new forms of camera hardware as part of the collaboration. For the time being, advanced color calibration should support the OnePlus 9 series, resulting in more accurate, natural-looking tones in photos taken with both cameras.
OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro- Specs
The OnePlus 9 Pro is the flagship, intended to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra and Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max, while the OnePlus 9 is the lower-specced and slightly less expensive sibling.
Camera Type– On Limelight
OnePlus focused much of its announcement on the new phones’ cameras, which were produced in collaboration with Hasselblad. The colours have been tweaked to appear more natural, and the ultrawide sensor on the 9 Pro and 9 is one of the largest to ever ship on a smartphone, according to OnePlus. The ultrawide uses a Sony IMX766 sensor with a 50-megapixel resolution and an aperture of f/2.2.
Meanwhile, the main Sony IMX789 sensor on the 9 Pro is 1/1.43” in size and has a resolution of 48 megapixels (the regular 9 has a Sony IMX689 sensor but it has the same resolution of 48 megapixels). There’s even a monochrome sensor on the 9 Pro. The front-facing camera on both phones is 16 megapixels.
Software and FPS
On the software front, OnePlus has included a Hasselblad Pro Mode, which gives you more control over your photography settings and includes a focus peaking feature. The 9 Pro can shoot video at up to 8K at 30fps or 4K at 120fps, with an improved Nightscape Video mode for filming in low light.
The 9 Pro, as previously said, has a 120Hz curved display that uses LPTO technology to change the refresh rate between 1 and 120Hz depending on the content being displayed on-screen, reducing power consumption by “up to 50%.” It should also feel more sensitive in games that support OnePlus’ Hyper Touch technology, according to the company. The panel supports HDR10+ and has a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 9 has a flat display rather than a curved one, but it still has a 120Hz refresh rate.
Processor
The Snapdragon 888 processor powers the 9 Pro and 9 on the inside, with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage options. They help Warp Charge 65T, which, according to OnePlus, can charge the phone’s 4,500mAh battery to 100% in less than half an hour. The 9 Pro can also charge wirelessly at up to 50W and is built to charge wirelessly whether it’s in portrait or landscape, while the 9 can only charge wirelessly at up to 15W.
OnePlus 9R- Specs
The new OnePlus 9R is being marketed by OnePlus as a low-cost gaming phone for the Indian market. The handset has a rectangular camera island on the back and a hole-punch display on the front, similar to the other two phones in the OnePlus 9 lineup. The unit, however, does not have the same build quality as its more expensive siblings.
Instead of Gorilla Glass 5, the OnePlus 9R has a matte-finish polycarbonate back. It lacks an IP rating for dust and water resistance, which is to be anticipated on such a low-cost flagship.
Similar to OnePlus 8T
If the OnePlus 9R looks and sounds familiar, that’s because it’s almost a half-yearly update of the OnePlus 8T — or, to put it another way, a OnePlus 8T. Since it uses Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 870 processor, which is a slight improvement over last year’s flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 865, the system should still deliver flagship-level efficiency.
One Kryo 585 prime core clocked at 3.2GHz, three Kryo 585 output cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and four Kryo 385 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz are all included in the SoC. The Adreno 650 GPU and the Snapdragon X55 modem are also included.
The SoC is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring that even the most challenging games run smoothly. To boost the gaming experience even more, the platform includes an improved cooling system, OnePlus’ new Pro Gaming Mode, immersive haptic feedback, and dual stereo speakers.
Camera and Display Specs
The best in class flagship OnePlus 9R comes with a quad-camera system on the rear, despite its low price. A 48MP Sony IMX586 main camera with OIS, a 16MP Sony IMX481 wide-angle camera with a 123° field of view, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome camera are among the features. It has a 16MP selfie camera installed in the hole-punch cutout on the top-left corner of the monitor on the front.
The display on the OnePlus 9R is a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. A 4,500mAh battery powers the unit, and the included charger supports 65W wired fast charging.
