Bang & Olufsen (B&O) has announced the Beoplay Portal, priced at $499 (as much as the price of an Xbox Series X). Made in collaboration with Xbox these are the company’s first wireless gaming headset. Beoplay Portal is specifically engineered for gaming and has Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with a design for long-term wear. For an immersive and precise gaming experience on Xbox and other compatible platforms, it comes with Dolby Atmos for Headphones.
Beoplay Portal with being a high-end wireless headphone also comes with a high-end price. Costing as much as an Xbox Series X, these headphones come in three colorways: Black Anthracite, Navy, and Grey Mist. With preorders expected to start soon, headphones will be made available at end of April.

Like Beoplay HX these also have active noise cancellation (ANC), but in addition, these also have a gaming audio mode which activates automatically when connected wirelessly to a console or to a PC via a USB-C port (the same port charges the headphones). These gaming headphones can last up to 12 hours in one charge with Bluetooth, Xbox Wireless protocol, ANC turned on. And if you’re just using Bluetooth and ANC, Beoplay Portal can last more than 24 hours.
Now for long-term comfort and extended wear, Bang & Olufsen has tried their best to make these different from other gaming headsets available in the market. Minimalistically designed Beoplay Portal are lightweight with a weight of 246g and feature memory foam ear cushions with built-in jaw support that improves acoustic performance as well as comfort.
The memory foam earpads are wrapped in lambskin leather, and it uses bamboo fiber textile to cover the headband with offset padding to relieve pressure. Additionally, its touch-sensitive discs (used to control them) on the outside of both the ear cup have anodized aluminum details.
Designed in collab with Xbox, with a push of its pairing button, they can connect to any Xbox console or to a PC that has the Xbox Wireless adapter plugged into it. And also features a lossless 2.4GHz built-in wireless connectivity. Additionally, Beoplay Portal features a Bluetooth 5.1 to connect with various devices, aptXTM Adaptive for a seamless experience, and have a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired playback.
You can optimization its microphone and tune the game / chat audio balance by using the Bang & Olufsen app for iOS and Android. It also features a virtual boom arm for “crystal clear” conversations and helps to amplify your voice while filtering out sounds in the background.
