Swedish brand IKEA, well known for its furniture and home accessories, has now launched a wireless charging mat “Sjömärke,” which can be installed underneath a desk or table and charges your phone via the Qi wireless standard. Priced at just $40, this wireless chaging mat is capabie of charging devices through wood or plastic (not from metal) having a thickness range between 0.31 inch-0.87 inch.
As per official product site, Sjömärke is “perfect to mount on a desk, side table or bedside table when you want chargers and cables to blend into the decor to keep the room neat and tidy.”
This mat measures 7’’x 3’’x 1’’ (l x w x h) and will come with a 6-foot long cable and double-sided adhesive tape to fit it under the desk (it also has holes if you want to mount it with screws) results in neat and tidy tabletop, with both the charging pad and its wire hidden from view.
Sjömärke wireless charging pad also comes with a “marks the spot” sticker (X-shaped) with the charger so that you cannot face any problem finding a power connection. Coming to safety, the charger will feature a temperature and power sensor along with a LED light to indicate charging status.
The charger is comaptible with Qi 1.2.4 BPP (Baseline Power Profile) charging standard meaning it will work with modern devices like iPhone 13 and Galaxy S22, providing only 5W wireless charging, not so much faster but will charge your phones and earbuds while working. Also, the company advice users to not place device direclty on the charging mat.
