Cyberpunk 2077 saves would be corrupted if it reaches 8MB in size.
According to the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit post, save files need to remain below 8MB to keep them secure, but this proves difficult for an RPG game that typically needs a lot of crafts and collectibles.
The problem is also plaguing PC matches, who have so far escaped many of the big issues affecting the console version.
In answer to the GOG website-which is owned by the developer CD Projekt Red’s parent company-the studio has stated that once it has been corrupted, there is no way to recover the savings, so it suggests that you keep “a lower amount of items and crafting materials”
“Unfortunately the save is damaged and can’t be recovered. Please use an older save file to continue playing and try to keep a lower amount of items and crafting materials,” said the post.
“If you have used the item duplication glitch, please load a save file not affected by it.”
It also added that while the file size “might be increased in one of the future patches” “the corrupted files will remain that way”
As Hirun summed up yesterday, all of this comes after Cyberpunk 2077 every catastrophic launch on both PS4 and Xbox One. After reassuring players that the game went “surprisingly well” on last-gen platforms, CD Projekt Red’s leadership apologised for the bug-ridden launch of the game on both platforms this past week after players had experienced several glitches, bugs, and visual downgrades. Only a few days ago, CD Projekt Red said that the expense of repairing Cyberpunk 2077 on last-gen platforms was “irrelevant” compared to the effect that their prestige took over the launch.
