Activision is creating a new studio mainly for creating another Call of Duty game for mobile platforms. But, till now nothing has been made official. According to several new job listings that recently appeared on Activision’s website, which revealed that a ‘new studio’ called Activision Mobile has been set up to work on a new AAA mobile title in the Call of Duty franchise. The company has also mentioned that the brand-new developer will be dedicated to developing the best AAA mobile games in the world.
The job listing interpreted, “We’re looking for great talent from mobile, console, and PC backgrounds passionate about their work, who share our belief in what AAA experiences on the mobile can and should be and incredibly excited to build out our teams and get to work, and invite you to join us in making something special.”
The studio is based in Santa Monica, California, but the position will start out as remote working due to the coronavirus pandemic. You can read the full job listing here.
According to Reuters’ sources, TiMi Studios’ Call of Duty: Mobile reportedly helped the developer become “the world’s largest developer” as the company generated over the US $10billion in revenue in 2020.
For now, EA has hired ex-Call Of Duty general manager Byron Beede to lead its Battlefield franchise and also as the senior vice president. EA stated that the move “signals a strategic, long-term commitment to the growth of the franchise”, as per IGN.
