After a month of its announcement, a sequel to the hit social deduction game Among Us just has been canceled, as its developer now wants to focus on improving the original one after its unexpected popularity in recent months.
Now Developers wants to take Among Us 1 to the next level
Game’s developer InnerSloth announced this news on its official website. Explaining that they want to support the original game that’s so popular right now. And revealed the main reason for creating a new sequel by saying in a blog post that: “We were shooting for a sequel because the codebase of the original one is so outdated and not built to support adding so much new content.” However, now due to the recent popularity of the game, the developer wants to take Among Us 1 to the next level.
What is Among Us?
Among Us, is a party game (which was originally launched in 2018) where you and your friends work as a team and try to figure out who is sabotaging the crew of your spaceship. This game has recently become a viral sensation, thanks to its recent popularity on Twitch. It is the third most-played game on Steam, where it costs $4.99 for now and has more than 10 million owners on Steam alone. Those numbers don’t count other people who own the game on iOS and Android, where the game is free with ads and one can pay $1.99 to remove them.
All content of Among Us 2 is coming to Original one
Now as the game’s sequel has been canceled, its developers are hoping to put all of the Among Us 2 content in Among Us 1as per the developer stated: “All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1.” They also said that the decision was “the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code and reworking several parts of it”
Well along with this, InnerSloth has also spelled about the number of upcoming updates to the game, which includes new servers, colorblind support, a friends/account system and a new stage. But doesn’t announced an expected date for the updates, though the developer added that they’re working on the servers to handle the unexpected influx of players, which is currently taking all time of the developers. Though you can play the current version of the game which is available on PC, iOS, and Android.
