Everything announced during Xbox Gamescom 2021

After delivering ID@Xbox Indie Showcase 2021, Microsoft is back with another big event, Xbox Gamescom 2021, which showcased new trailers for titles like Dying Light 2, Psychonauts 2, the first 8-minute gameplay of Forza Horizon 5 as well as a big announcement about the Xbox Cloud Gaming and more.

So as you can see, there’s a lot to cover and we’re here to make sure that you didn’t miss a thing announced during the Xbox Gamescom 2021 event. Let’s get started.

Xbox Cloud Gaming

One of the biggest announcements by Microsoft at the event was that the Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One this “holiday”, with testing set to take place in the autumn. The company currently has this service available on mobile devices and web browsers through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service, and on PC via the Xbox app.

With the help of this feature, players can play over 100 games without downloading them with support of up to 1080p and at 60fps. Meaning you can play Xbox Series X|S game on Xbox One family through the cloud.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human

Arriving on December 7th, Dying Light 2, one of the most anticipated upcoming zombie games, got a brand new gameplay trailer at Xbox Gamescom 2021, giving a bit of an overview of Combat and some of the new enemies you’ll encounter in the game which takes place 20 years after the events of the first game. 

Humble Games coming to Xbox Games Pass

Archvale, Next Space Rebels, Dodgeball Academia, Bushiden, Flynn: Son of Crimson, Unpacking, Chinatown Detective Agency, Into the Pit, and other Humble Games, will be added to Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Age of Empires 4

Releasing on October 28, the Age of Empires 4 developers shared some details about how they made one of the fan-favorite features, the Trebuchet (the medieval siege weapon) work properly.

Wasteland 3’s second DLC

Wasteland 3’s second DLC “Cult of the Holy Detonation” (set in the Cheyenne Mountain military complex) is coming on October 5th for all platforms with a ton of new content for players. Wasteland 3 Colorado Collection also arriving on the same day and includes both major DLC expansions.

Forza Horizon 5 Gameplay Trailer

Forza Horizon 5 got a new 8-minute gameplay trailer at Xbox Gamescom 2021, showing off a variety of vehicles speeding through the different biomes – from jungles to desert land and even an active volcano – of Mexico. Along with the appearance of the two shiny new cover cars – 2021 Mercedes-AMG Project ONE and 2021 Ford Broncos Badlands. And all on all game look f*cking incredible!

And in one of the biggest surprise announcements, Microsoft revealed the limited edition Forza Horizon 5 Xbox Wireless Controller available for preorder now and will arrive on November 9th.

Sea of Thieves and Borderlands crossover

Just released Sea of Thieves is getting a Borderlands-themed special limited-time event today, which will allow players to earn a Borderlands-themed ship skin until September 7th.

State of State Decay 2: Homecoming

For the time developer is working hard on State of Decay 3, all SoSD 2 players will get a free Homecoming update on September 1st, which takes the original Trumbull Valley map and remasters it, adds new areas, and provides tons of new stories to explore as well as new weapons, gear, and missions. Undead Labs has also announced the game had passed the milestone of having 10 million lifetime players.

Crusader Kings 3

Launched for PC last year, Paradox Development Studio’s Crusader Kings III, the most popular strategy games ever made, is coming to current-gen consoles in near future with refined UI to make it more accessible (it’s not a port of PC version).

Psychonauts 2

Launching today (August 25), Psychonauts 2 got a mind-bending launch trailer at Xbox Gamescom 2021 which you can watch above highlights the game’s stunning and varied visuals.

Stray Blade

An action role-playing title from 505 Games – Stray Blade – lets you step into the shoes of a rogue adventurer exploring the ancient Valley of Acrea with your wolf companion. The world also changes as you fight and die, meaning you never quite know how your progress will move forward.

The Gunk

The Gunk, a third-person action-adventure, gets new trailer with a release date of this December. Here players will explore, gather, craft, and survive this menacing world.

Flight Simulator World Update 6

Lastly at Xbox Gamescom 2021, it was annocuned that Microsoft Flight Simulator’s World Update 6 update is arriving on September 7th with lots of new stuff including big updates to Germany Austria and Switzerland with new Aerial Maps, improved 3D city scans, and more along with a new Local Legends is arriving in the shape of the classic 1930’s German plane, the Junker.

There’s also more stuff to look forward to with big EVTOL air taxis coming in November, and competitive multiplayer arriving in Fall with the Reno Air Races expansion which includes planes that can fly up to 500 miles per hour at an altitude of 50-250 foot above ground.
