Google Pixel 5 is set to be announced in an event alongside with Pixel 4A 5G smartphones, a new Chromecast, and a new smart speaker on September 30th. But new leaks from WinFuture have fully revealed Google’s new flagship Pixel 5, along with nearly all of its specs including its display and CPU plus phone’s final design.
Price and Availability
As reported by WinFuture, the Google Pixel 5 may be priced at €629 (roughly Rs. 54,000) and is expected to come in a single 8GB + 128GB storage configuration and will not have an XL model of its own. One could get his hands on the Pixel 5 pretty quickly after Google’s Sept. 30 event. Also, a leak from a French-language Google blog post claims the Pixel 5 will be available for pre-order on October 8.
Design details of Pixel 5
Near-final renders of the Google Pixel 5 have leaked via WinFuture, revealing the same notch-less, punch-hole camera design we saw on the Pixel 4. The smartphone may be offered in two color options – black and green. The phone will have thin bezels and a square camera array in the back and an on-screen selfie camera on front. Pixel 5 will come with IP68 waterproofing along with any sort of in-display fingerprint scanner.
The Pixel 5’s “housing” is said to be made of 100% recycled aluminum and can weigh 151 grams. The phone may have a 4,080mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging over USB-C. The phone is also expected to support wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging.
Display and Camera details
Google Pixel 5 is expected to feature a 6.67-inch 2340 x 1080 OLED display with Full-HD resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 6. The display may offer a 90Hz or 120 Hz refresh rate with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen is expected to feature HDR support and offer a color depth of 24 bits.
Speaking of the cameras, Google is once again featuring two sensors that will include a 12.2-megapixel telephoto primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and can now shoot at 77 degrees with f/1.7 aperture. And which is paired with a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 107-degree field of view (FOV) and f/2.2 aperture. Now for selfies and video calls, the Pixel 5 may have an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture placed inside the hole-punch cutout at the front.
Leaked specs of Google Pixel 5
As rumored, the Pixel 5 will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 765G SoC processor clocked at 2.4GHz, paired with 8GB of RAM. The dual-SIM (Nano + eSIM) Google Pixel 5 may run on Android 11 out-of-the-box. Its onboard storage of 128GB and can’t be expanded. And if there’s a surprise and the Snapdragon 865 ends up powering the Pixel 5, Qualcomm asks phones makers to include its X55 5G modem with that chipset for better 5G connectivity.
The only question remains is what types of 5G the Pixel 5 will support. Some phones don’t always include the antennas to work with mmWave-based 5G, which Verizon relies heavily on for its 5G network. Considering the close relationship Google enjoys with Verizon, Google can make a different variant of Pixel 5 with the support of Verizon 5G.
Also if we see the case of Google they always come with big improvements in the software side rather than the hardware side. Well, Google is set to announce the Google Pixel 5 and the Google Pixel 4A 5G fully on September 30th, alongside a variety of other new products such as a new Chromecast, and a new smart speaker. And there are also some rumors about a special variant of Pixel 5 which is Pixel 5s. A variant that meant to work with a specific 5G network. But to see if this is true we have to wait until September 30.
