Update: The official Twitter account for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has now announced (via AnimeNewsNetwork) that Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga will resume in this year’s 35th issue i.e. on August 2. The manga went hiatus on June 21 due to Akutami’s poor health.

Original Article (June 10): Jujutsu Kaisen manga is going on Hiatus starting from Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine 29th issue on June 21. The decision was taken due to author Gege Akutami’s poor health condition. The news was revealed to the fans through the official Twitter account for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, and the author noted that it “should take around a month”, but it is still not specified how long hiatus will be. Despite Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Hiatus, a new chapter of the manga will still appear next week on June 14.

Jujutsu Kaisen will be taking an indefinite hiatus after this week's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #28 due to Gege's health condition.

According to the mangaka's note, it "should take around a month", but nothing is exactly specified.

On Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Hiatus, Weekly Shonen Jump stated, “Thank you for always reading Jujutsu Kaisen. Due to the poor physical condition of Akutami Gege, Jujutsu Kaisen will be absent for some time from the next issue onward. Akutami wanted to continue writing, but after several discussions with the editorial department, it has been decided that Akutami should take a break for a certain period.”

Though the author Gege Akutami assured fans that his health condition is not that serious and his mental health is also fine. He further stated that he is trying to get back from hiatus, to serialization as soon as possible.

Being a mangaka is a difficult job. For a weekly manga artist like Akutami, authors have to draw 18-20 pages per issue, with lots of working hours, stress, and deadlines. It can be quite demanding and stressful for the body and authors often have to take out time because of their health.

There are several examples where authors have to go on hiatus due to stress and health issues. Fans still have to wait as Weekly Shonen Jump will update how long the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Hiatus will be in the future.
