Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 was launched last year and earlier there was a rumor that Qualcomm coming with the successor of Snapdragon 888. It is expected that it will be announced around December this year and will flagship smartphones in 2022. Famous leaker Evan Blass has leaked the specs of the Snapdragon 888 successor through his Twitter account.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Successor Specs
As reported by XDA-Developers, specs of the Snapdragon 888 successor were leaked by a reliable leaker Evan Blass. He tweeted about its specs by mentioning the ‘SM8450’ is next-generation System-on-Chip (SoC). It is expected to be the successor of Snapdragon 888 because the model number of Snapdragon 888 is ‘SM8350’.
Evan Blass has mentioned the full specifications of ‘SM8450’ in the tweet below:
This time manufacturing process of a chip is 4nm rather than 5nm. This helps in improved power efficiency and faster performance. Qualcomm integrating the new Snapdragon X65G modem which is a successor of Snapdragon X60. Theoretically, it offers 10Gbps download speed and stable 5G connectivity.
The leak also mentioning the ‘Kryo 780 CPU built on Arm Cortex v9 technology’. They are using Arm Cortex v9 technology which was announced this year and it is using new technology that are heavyweight Cortex-X2, the Cortex-A710, and the lightweight Cortex-A510. Snapdragon 888 successor is expected to use these 3-cores with the configuration of 1 Cortex-X2, 3 Cortex-A710, 4 Cortex-A510.
As it is built upon the SoC so it supports 1GHz mmWave and 400MHz sub-6GHz either for non-standalone or standalone 5G networks. The GPU they are using is Adreno 730 which is a big jump from Adreno 660 and they are using Spectra 680 ISP with quadruple concurrency.
Earlier some leaks are telling that engineers are working on chips with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS memory. There are more leaks specified by Evan Blass for the successor of Snapdragon 888 in his tweet.
All these specifications tell that the Snapdragon 888 successor has major transitions. It is assumed that the chip is using a new camera module ‘Lecia 1’ it doesn’t mean that smartphones will come with this camera this will only be optimizing the ISP of the chip.
