Sony revealed today that it was unveiling a new ‘Airpeak’ project. As the name suggests, Airpeak will be Sony’s take on AI-powered drones and the Japanese giant will contribute by introducing its remote sensing technologies to the domain.
Sony has assigned the “Airpeak” brand to reflect its ambition to contribute to the further growth and the production of the unprecedented value through its imaging and sensing technology as well as 3R technologies (Reality, Real-time and Remote) in the drone field.
For both photography and videography, the company already specializes in producing top-of-the-line cameras, and Airpeak can take a lead from this. Sony says the project would “support the creativity of video creators to the fullest extent possible, aiming to contribute to the further development of the entertainment industry”.
This may mean that the new project will bring in drones to capture some interesting images of sports, exploration, and even regular settings. Also, the project seeks to offer increased productivity and savings to different sectors. In these environments, special attention will be paid to safety and reliability as well.
Airpeak is scheduled to launch sometime in the spring of 2021. Sony will soon be seeking partners for the project. Aside from this, there is not much, that the Japanese firm has specific about the project.
