TikTok has gained more than 2 billion downloads till now and is standing at the top of the Most downloaded Apps. And the downfall of TikTok has begun too. The recent ban in India and a potential ban in Australia and the U.S. brought TikTok in a vulnerable state. And it is not too far where the company can suffer from a major decline in usage.
And all of this situation arises a single question. Where are the Tik Tok “Stars”? And is there any way left for them to show their 10-second dance moves and bizarre Make-up and cooking tutorials. And there is an answer to this silly question of mine. Triller, the new place where the Tik Tok “Stars” are migrating show off their talents, or most of the times just creating annoying and cringe little vids.
What is Triller?
Triller is another TikTok like music video creation app. Triller blew up a lot into a social networking platform. This app was made by the Disney Frozen: Karaoke app creators David Leiberman and Sammy Rubin. The app released in 2015 and helped in creating mini music videos by recording multiple different shots in a sequence that was then attached to a song snippet.
How to make a video on Triller?
Just open the app and click on the addition icon on the screen. Then it will direct you to the list of popular or suggested songs you want to use in the video. After selecting the song, choose the part of the song you want to add in your video. And then shoot the video in multiple or a single shot as you desire. After the recording is finished, tap on the circle icon at the bottom right of the screen, it will encode the video and the audio. And there you have a Triller video to share it to your fans.
Active Users on Triller
According to the Los Angeles Times, there are 64 million active users a month. All-time downloads of Triller is 130 million. However, it is still a No-competition when we compare the user and download stats with TikTok.
Although according to the Los Angeles Times, Triller is not triggering TikTok’s users or trying to compete with it. As it is focussing on the older Vine generation users but, it can change the interface if more TikTok users join the new platform.
All of this could be possible because of the ban and China’s privacy infiltrating attempts. The Chinese government is forcing companies like TikTok and other software devs to infiltrate their user’s data and using it for some future cyber attacks.
Triller even collaborated with Snapchat earlier this year’s March. The collaboration helped Snapchat and Triller users to create more content on Snapchat by using songs available on Triller and putting it on their “Triller story”.
This way, Triller gained a lot of active users from Snapchat’s 250 million Daily users.
What’s the Difference?
Both the apps were created for their own different reasons. Triller was originally just a mini video creation app. On the other hand, TikTok was just like Musical.ly but a less famous version at that time. Musical.ly was a video creation and a bit of social entertainment focussed app. It was later sold to TikTok and TikTok later became the biggest short-form entertainment app.
One of the biggest difference is the editing interface of both the apps. TikTok lets the user edit the whole video by themselves. On the other hand, Triller edits videos for users. Maybe they will change this automatic editing interface for more varied and professional experience for the users.
The solid chances of TikTok getting banned has influenced a lot of developers and companies to create an app like TikTok. For example, Instagram has rolled out Reels feature on the app. There is a lot of competition emerging for Triller in the near future.
