Pokémon Go developer Niantic has just announced a brand new free-to-play mobile location-based AR game Transformers: Heavy Metal in partnership with Hasbro and TOMY. Seattle-based Very Very Spaceship is leading development of the game and will be using Niantic Lightship platform – client platform that enables AR tech, social experiences, and location mapping.

Not much is known about the game as the company has not released a trailer along side its announcement. But as its official description highlights:

In Transformers: Heavy Metal players will join the Guardian Network, a group of humans who have banded together with the Autobots in a war against the Decepticons. As Guardians, players will uncover hidden regions across Earth to find resources and fight Decepticons in turn-based battles, either solo or with friends.

Meaning you can expect a Pokémon Go style gameplay from Transformers: Heavy Metal in which Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will be walking around on the streets near you. You will be teaming up with Autobots (same as the movies) to save the Earth form Decepticons.
