On Friday at Comic-Con@Home 2021 panel, AdultSwim after a long wait confirmed the release window of the upcoming CG anime series Blade Runner: Black Lotus, along with dropping its first trailer. Adult Swim and Crunchyroll are active on many new projects and one of the most amazing is this new mysterious anime series, set within the Blade Runner universe – it was first announced way back in 2018.
Co-produced by Crunchyroll, Black Lotus is a dark sci-fi anime series set in the year 2032 and takes place in the aftermath of the 2017 anime short Blade Runner Black Out 2022. Adult Swim revealed its first trailer animated by SOLA Digital Arts! (embed below), which included the song “Feel You Now” from singer-songwriter Alessia Cara, who is also contributing music to the series.
Unlike the films, the story of this series follows a mysterious female replicant protagonist, who is an artificially created humanoid being, voiced by Arisa Shida and Jessica Henwick in the Japanese version and English version respectively. Blade Runner: Black Lotus will have 13 episodes, and will release some time this fall on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll.
