Ryan Reynolds’ latest sci-fi action comdey blockbuster, ‘Free Guy’ has surprisingly topped the box office this weekend with $28.4 Million, snatching the first place away from ‘The Suicide Squad’ after a solitary week. Also, after its better performance than expectated (to gross between $20 million and $25 million), Disney is now considering to do a sequel already.

As reported by Variety, despite being hampered by COVID-19, ‘Free Guy’ has collected more than $28 million from the domestic box office for Walt Disney’s in its first weekend. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds and 20th Century Studios produced it. And also the film has grossed roughly $51 million worldwide, with bringing international ticket sales tally to $22.5 million.

Now what makes it a big deal is that, it’s playing exclusively in theaters oly, which is rarely available these days. Many high-profile films that premiered during the pandemic, such as Marvel’s “Black Widow” and “The Suicide Squad,” were available on streaming platforms on the same day as their theatrical debuts. And for comparison sake, Free Guy has done far more better than those. On top of that it’s based on an original concept and isn’t part of an existing movie universe.

Now just after debuting at No. 1 with surprisingly strong $28.4 Million at box office. Ryan Reynolds, who stars in the fim as NPC (non-playable character) in a video game, said on Twitter that Disney Wants a ‘Free Guy sequel’. Which further got a retweet from ‘20th Century Studios’ seemingly confirming the news.

In “Free Guy,” Reynolds portrays a character named Guy in a popular game called “Free City.” Once he realizes he is living in a fictional game, Guy sets off on a quest to become the game’s hero, with the help of the game’s programmers, played by Joe Keery and Jodie Comer. The film also stars Lil Rel Howery, Taika Waititi and Utkarsh Ambudkar.

Free Guy is now available in theartes near you and is a must watch even if you don’t like video games. Here watch the trailer of the best video game ever.
