Update: It’s official, Remedy Entertainment has officially announced that the Alan Wake Remastered will release in fall 2021 on PC exclusively via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, after a retailing listing leaked earlier this week.
This will be the first time when Alan Wake will be made available for PlayStation since its release way back in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PC.
Creative director of Remedy Entertainment, Sam Lake, announced the remastered in partnership with Epic Games on Sudden Stop, an Alan Wake community website.
He confirmed that the Alan Wake Remastered will include the original game and its two expansions – The Signal and The Writer, new improved 4K visuals, and a new commentary from Sam Lake himself.
Original Article: After a retail listing for a PlayStation 4 version of Remedy Entertainment’s cult classic, Alan Wake appeared on a Taiwanese store, rumors of a possible ‘Alan Wake Remastered’ began to circulate. Wario64, a videogame leaker and Twitter user, was the one to discover the listing. Even though the URLs are no longer active, IGN was able to get a few screenshots of the supposed box cover and Rakuten Taiwan release date.
The ‘Alan Wake Remastered’ is expected to be made available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store on October 5. And replying to Wario64’s tweet Daniel Ahmad, a well-known industry expert, tweeted “Will be unveiled next week.” This timeframe could be referring to the upcoming PlayStation Showcase on September 9, as several outlets have speculated.
Sony’s planned 40-minute presentation will include unique in-depth gameplay reveals for upcoming titles as well as what PlayStation Studios has planned for the future. There’s a chance that the widely anticipated God of War sequel, which was postponed until 2022, will be released.
The PlayStation Showcase will commence next Thursday at 1 p.m. Pacific Time / 9 p.m. BST / 10 p.m. CEST on their official YouTube and Twitch channels.
About The Original Alan Wake
The original Alan Wake was released on May 10, 2010, as a Microsoft Xbox 360 exclusive. Players assumed the role of Alan Wake, a well-known murder-mystery novelist who travels to a picturesque town called Bright Falls with his wife in the hopes of finding creative inspiration for his next work. Alan gradually becomes imprisoned in a book he wrote himself, and something in the darkness is discovered.
