CD Projekt Red announced on its website that it is working with Sony to restore Cyberpunk 2077 to the PlayStation Store as soon as possible. The highly awaited open-world game was launched in late 2020 to an initial fanfare followed by a severe outcry.
While the PC edition merely suffered from launch errors, the console variants were almost inoperable, with players posting multiplayer Cyberpunk 2077 glitches, ranging from flying vehicles to tiny trees pushing through the countryside to NPC AI and animations that clearly broke, turning Night City a laughing stock. The game was released on certain platforms in such a sad condition that Sony pulled the game from digital distribution and gave instant refunds to any buyers on the PlayStation platform.
CD Projekt Red has issued many apologies to its fan base in the wake of that, vowing to repair the game through a regular cadence of fixes. It has recently reported that it has pushed back the free DLC of the game in order to prioritise bug fixes. Meanwhile, reports on the prolonged production of the game have been released, indicating that the project has changed significantly since it was announced in 2012.
CD Projekt Red has news for players seeking answers in an update to the official FAQ about its continuing absence on the digital PlayStation 4 storefront. The developer confirms that it is “working with Sony to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PlayStation Store as soon as possible” so Sony’s direct participation in that process is likely to be a relief to some.
However, there is no further information on the timing of when the digital PS4 return of Cyberpunk 2077 will occur or what all is needed to achieve that goal for the developer and console manufacturer.
Whether it is damage management by the developer or genuine progress between CD Projekt Red and Sony, there is definitely progress being made in making Cyberpunk 2077 ready for digital sale on PS4 once again.
