Germany-based technology brand Carbon Mobile has launched Carbon 1 Mark II, the world’s first phone made from carbon fiber. First announced in Feb 2020 and then delayed due to pandemic, the Carbon 1 Mark II smartphone is now available to buy online for €799 (around Rs 70,000) and with availability in selected retailers coming in the middle of this month.

What makes Carbon 1 Mark II, one of a kind smartphone

As stated by the company, Carbon 1 Mark II is the world’s first smartphone with a carbon fiber monocoque, which consists of multi 1K and 3K ultra-thin filaments (meaning that its external shell provides the structural integrity, there’re no internal supports). This makes it stronger than steel and lighter than aluminum at the same time. Numerically the phone is extremely light .i.e 125 grams and thin i.e. 6.3 millimeters. And for comparison, an average phone weighs around 180 grams.
