Sony’s latest PlayStation Indies Spotlight event gives in-depth information regarding new reveals and gameplay from 7 upcoming indie games. So here’s all the information that we gathered from the event and Playstation blog about those upcoming indie games, which includes retro-themed Axiom Verge 2, Hades, reverse-horror game Carrio, and more.
Oxenfree 2: Lost Signal
Originally launched for Switch and PC, Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals from developer Night School Studio will now be releasing on PS4 and PS5 sometime in 2022. Players can explore the beautifully weird and eerie world which focuses on a new protagonist called Riley as she returns to her hometown of Camena.
Axiom Verge 2
Axiom Verge 2, the sequel to the retro-themed 2015 action platform is also coming to PS4 and PS5. It has two worlds in one behind the overworld map. There is another interconnected breach world in an alternate dimension. Players can travel between the two layers throughout their adventure. It greatly increases non-linear exploration opportunities of Axiom Verge 2.
A Short Hike
A Short Hike, a game by Adam Robinson-yu is scheduled for release on PS4 this fall. The game notes explore, climb the island by choosing any path you like and see where it leads you and then find hidden treasure to reach new heights in the game. It came out in 2019 and it got a very positive reception on PC.
Sol Cresta
The vertical-scrolling shoot-em-up marks the final chapter of the Cresta saga on PS4. It is a sequel to Platinum games. Takanori Sato, Sol Cresta director, gives information over the Platinum website about two of the game’s basic system-called dock-and-split and formations.
Wytchwood
Wytchwood is a crafting adventure game set in the land of gothic fables that will be making its way to PlayStation consoles this autumn. The adventure that follows in the mysterious country leads to exploration and hunting for magical ingredients said to be the heart of the experience.
Carrion
Carrion is a reverse horror experience game and is another one to enter the PlayStation family later this year. Players are cast as an “amorphous creature of unknown origin” and unleashed through dark and claustrophobic corridors of a labyrinthine industrial complex.
Hades
Last up is Supergiant Games’ critically acclaimed dungeon-crawling rogue-like (with a Greek mythology twist) Hades, which will arrive on PS4 and PS5 next Friday, August 13.
