Netflix is bringing Pokemon to real-life again, as the streaming giants are currently working on a live-action Pokemon TV series with Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson attached to bring the series to a screen near you.
Exclusively reported by Variety, the new Pokemon TV series is still very early in the development phase, with Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson slated to write and executive produce the live-action adaptation.
Will Pokemon TV series be similar to Detective Pikachu?
Many Pokemon stories are animated and there is only one major glimpse into live-action, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith, which is widely recognized as one of the best video game movies released in 2019. However, this upcoming TV series will have independent production. However, no other details (like plot details, casting) about this series have been revealed just yet.
This will be the first time in franchise history that Pokemon is getting a live-action TV series. And being home to several Pokemon anime seasons, Netflix’s interest in developing a live-action series surely arrives from anime’s success on the streaming platform, alongside its plans to adapt several anime into live-action series such as the upcoming Cowboy Bebop TV series.
