Selena Gomez Criticized Social Media:

Selena Gomez had grown up as a star on the Disney channel, due to which she learned to stay quiet on controversial issues. But now she has taken a completely different approach.

Selena Gomez has been active in her criticism of the part social media platforms played in spreading false information in this month’s attack on the U.S. Capital and also the misinformation they spread through out the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

How Selena Got Courage To Speak:

Selena Gomez expressed her feelings on Apple Music on Friday when host Zane Lowe asked her how she found the courage to speak out when it would be much easier to stay silent than to express oneself.

As an answer to this Selena stated that she stayed quiet for like 10 years. “It’s not the time for it anymore,” she said. According to her, she doesn’t care anymore what others think, but she never wants to hurt people’s feelings.

She must have felt a lot of pressure to keep her opinions to herself, because of the sheer number of fans she has. Selena Gomez has been in the public eye almost all of her life.

When she was just 7, she famously appeared on the children’s show Barney (alongside friend Demi Lovato), before finding success with Disney and then other stages, such as taking the lead in Spring Breakers, executive-producing Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why, and hosting cooking series Selena + Chef on HBO Max.

Selena Gomez Shared Her Concern About Hate Groups Online:

Her latest comments about holding social media leaders reprehensible for the state of the country came on Jan 6 after supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol. Since the violence, Zuckerberg’s Facebook and other social media platforms have banned the outgoing president, most likely until he leaves office.

Gomez said that she started with reaching out to people immediately and wasn’t even afraid to call out Mark Zuckerberg or speak what she wanted to say, because she was not being able to handle all those things that were going on. “And it’s like, we’re already getting some progress,” Selena added.

Selena Gomez cannot stand the fact that people have to know that there are neo-Nazi and some hate groups online as well as some misinformation from the U.S.

Scientific disinformation has and will cost lives. @Facebook said they don’t allow lies about COVID and vaccines to be spread on their platforms. So how come all of this is still happening? Facebook is going to be responsible for thousands of deaths if they don’t take action now! https://t.co/IAtDpNT5Tt

According to her, this is supposed to be a place where people share their life, this is not a place to spread hatred or to hurt people. It was found that Selena can get pretty heated over this subject.

Selena’s Spanish Song Tracks:

The singer talked about her new Spanish-language track “De Una Vez,” and also her second following “Un Año Sin Lluvia”.

Selena wanted to work on a Spanish project for 10 years as her father is Mexican and she’s proud of her heritage.

She insisted that the soundtrack is being released at the perfect time. Selena emphasized that there’s something about Latin music that, globally, just makes people feel things.

When Lowe asked about her experience of singing in Spanish, Gomez replied to him that it was quite challenging. In February 2018 Gomez mentioned that she wasn’t fluent in the language, although she wanted to be.

Selena laughed and said that it may sound funny but she discovered that she sings better in Spanish. Yet she had to work hard because one cannot mispronounce anything and it is something that needs to be precise and to be respected by the audience itself.

At last, Selena expressed that she wants everyone to enjoy her music and this time she is targeting her fanbase and her heritage, so she’s excited.
