The trailer of the most-anticipated film The Kashmir Files is making headlines and making netizens go crazy for all the right reasons. After The Taskent Files, Vivek Agnihotri and the team are back with another shocking, riveting, and brutally honest film based on the true stories of the victims of the Kashmir Genocide. And is expected to be another spine-chilling story of the killings of Kashmiri Pandits and their exodus from the valley. The starring of the film includes Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty, with National Award Winners like Pallavi Joshi, Prakash Belavadi and also stars a couple of acclaimed names like Darshan Kumar, Bhasha Sumbali, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava, and Prithviraj Sarnaik.
The trailer of Kashmiri Files gives audiences a glimpse of the terror, confusion, trepidation, and sheer panic that consumed Kashmir at the time, and takes the audience on a rollercoaster of emotions that surfaced during the tragic incident which will surely put everyone in a conundrum about Kashmiri pandits.
The 3.5 minutes long trailer starts with a scene where Atul Srivastava is seen interviewing his co-star, who plays the role of a Kashmiri Muslim during the Genocide, on how many Kashmiri Pandits he has killed, replying to which he says, 20-25. Leaving the interviewer in dilemma and terror. Further which left the audience disturbed is when Atul asks him if someone asks him to kill his brother and mother, he says, “I will kill them”.
Soon we see Darshan Kumaar’s entry in the trailer and the chaos begins followed by the visuals of the terror going to the peak in the valley with dreadful rallies and killings. And as always, Anupam Kher who himself is a Kashmiri Pandit cathes our eye by looking astounded when he describes ‘their’ Kashmir to Darshan. Mithun Chakraborty on the other hand was seen asking Darshan, “Kashmiri Pandits also went through so much, but they never picked up a gun, why?”, showing the heat of the moment.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara was expected to be a shocking, riveting, and brutally honest film based on the true stories of Kashmir Pandits’ genocide but it was just a love story of Shanti and Shiv Dhar and couldn’t quench the audience about the information about mascara of Kashmiri Pandits, thus there are so many expectations from the Kashmir Files. The Kashmiri Files trailer revolves around the idea of freedom and justice for individuals.
Vivek Agnihotri on Kashmiri files said, “Bringing the story of Kashmir Genocide to the big screen is no easy feat and has to be handled with a great deal of sensitivity. This film promises to be an eye-opener and with a talented ensemble cast, audiences can revisit this incident in Indian history through this raw and real narrative”.
Being such a sensitive topic, the filmmakers have given the perfect idea of what the film consists of and what one can expect from it via its trailer and are appreciated at the same time. The Kashmir Files is written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal. The film was expected to release on 26 January 2022, on India’s Republic Day, worldwide but was postponed due to the Omicron variant spread. Now, the film will arrive in theatres on 11 March 2022 making the audience enlivening to rush to the theatres.
