Actress Kristen Stewart has been quite busy with the promotions of her upcoming movie Spencer, but given the immense buzz surrounding Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, the actress was questioned about the fan-made internet campaign about her desire to play the role of Joker opposite her ex-boyfriend in which actress briefly entertained the idea but squashed hopes for her to ever inhabit the oversized shoes of the clown prince of crime.
Stewart’s urge to try something new with her on-screen characters and the idea of playing the iconic character left the actress in a dilemma for a second but looked quite confident turning down the scheme.
Kristen Stewart was in a relationship with Pattinson for a couple of years, teamed up with her then-boyfriend on multiple occasions, and the two wowed the audience with their impeccable chemistry in Twilight and were romantically linked following the first film’s 2008 debut, and dated on-and-off until 2013.
However, the 31-year-old actress, when asked by Variety, turned down the idea of playing Joker opposite Pattinson’s Batman politely, and said that she loves the energy behind it, but “it’s really been done so well and feels like, maybe, they don’t traipse over, but loved that gusto.” She added, “Let’s figure something else out, I’m down to play a freaky and scary person.”
While many actors like Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, and Joaquin Phoenix have played the role won the Academy Award, Stewart didn’t shut down the idea for the role opposite her real-life ex, she noted that it’s “not the most stoked I’ve ever been” and suggested to try something new. Though the American actress isn’t sure that she wants to join Pattinson in the flick, previously praised her ex for landing the role.
Meanwhile, Pablo Larrain’s upcoming movie Spencer left the audience fascinated as Kristen Stewart is playing Princess Diana and fans are already hailing her performance in the trailer Oscar-worthy, the biographical drama is all set to release in theatres on November 5.
While The Batman, which recently got its main trailer at DC FanDome 2021, starring Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Paul Dano will premiere on March 4, 2022.
