But with his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, has proved that the South Korean supergroup BTS – which is probably the biggest boy band in the world, has found a loyal fan in wrestler-turned-actor, John Cena. As he credited them for “F*cking changing the world.”
John Cena and BTS – The love is mutual
John Cena has been slowly announcing himself as a fan of BTS, whether it’s posting about the band on his Instagram page or by tweeting: “I’ve had a little trouble keeping up lately but does @BTS_twt @bts_bighit need a bodyguard? Crazy because I’ve been touring with them for years, they just can’t see me.” As you can see John Cena is a proud BTS army member and he himself has confessed on multiple occasions.
Also later, in February it was revealed that the band-members also admired him and the love was mutual. They have been his fans since their teens. RM even went on air to claim that he is a huge fan of Cena and wants to meet him someday. The famous seven even went on to sing Cena’s wrestling theme song.
John Cena on BTS “What they’re doing is F*cking changing the world”
And today appearing as the 1st in-studio guest on the Jimmy Fallon, John Cena explained his love for BTS. At first, Fallon, who is hosting a ‘BTS Week’ on his show, said that the band had confessed they wanted to meet him. On this Cena said that he was “floored” with their admission and it “stopped his heart.” “I jam out to them,” the action star said.
John Cena then start singing the praise of the group for “trying to shatter the stereotypical difficulties and uncomfortable situations” that people go through, he said:
“They advocate self-love, they advocate don’t be afraid of failure, they advocate that you are enough. They are catering to an audience that is living that: young people. That’s why they are so popular around the world. One, they are great performers but it’s the message they send, it resonates with the people.”
Later Cena praised BTS for their philanthropic work. (BTS donated $1 million to Black Lives Matter and fans came together to match that donation.) On that Cena stated:
“If we can resonate through the television to you at home to come out of your pocket to give to a cause, that’s work. That’s purpose. That’s f*cking changing the world. That is impressive.”
Cena also said kind words to BTS’ fans who call themselves ARMY. He said that they are ‘not just geeked-out fans,’ but also contribute to a variety of philanthropic causes. John Cena concluded saying that:
“I don’t care how you feel about them, I don’t care if it’s your bag or it’s not. I get it! Music, you have your opinion and can like what you want. How they conduct themselves as human beings and the message they send to the world, that’s something special.”
