Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have officially called the split after their two years of engagement, and weeks of denying rumors of a break-up. Both are now going on their own way professionally and said that “we’re better as friends”.
On Thursday (April 15) morning, in a joint statement to TODAY, the powerhouse couple nicknamed “J-ROD” announced, “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
The powerhouse couple consisting of the 51-year-old singer, Jennifer Lopez, and 45-year-old former Yankees player, Alex Rodriguez have been together for four years, have been engaged since March 2019. The couple also planned to get married in June 2020, before COVID hit the world and putting a hold on the ceremony.
Breakup rumors first popped up when rumors of friendship between A-Rod and reality star Madison LeCroy sparked and then again earlier this week. When Jennifer Lopez posted a pic from the set of her upcoming movie “Shotgun Wedding”, without wearing her engagement ring.
And earlier this week, Rodriguez and his friend, signed a letter of intent to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA franchise, with no mention of J-Lo in that.
After that, Jennifer continued posting without wearing her engagement ring, and on Wednesday Alex too posted on his Instagram (also no mention of J-Lo again) hinting that the game is finally over. Alex even posted a story in which we can see a table full of Jennifer’s photos and Coldplay’s “Fix You” playing in the background.
