Microsoft has partnered with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after two decades for a new charity campaign that will see the wrestler turned actor giving away special edition Xbox Series X consoles to children’s hospitals around the US.
The Rock and Microsoft are working together with charity Gamers Outreach on this campaign. Microsoft has created 20 unique “ROCK Xbox Series X” consoles for this campaign, and The Rock will deliver them to the hospitals that will allow them to reach an estimated 50,000+ children who are suffering from illnesses and to give them the experience of next-gen gaming.
As reported by Xbox Wire, these new consoles will be installed through the charity’s “Go-Karts,” which are “portable kiosks built to easily provide recreation to children who are unable to leave their rooms in hospitals.”
These special edition consoles will also feature Johnson’s Brahma Bull logo on both console and wireless Controllers and include a special engraved message that says “Keep smiling and have fun. Love, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.”
Microsoft and The Rock are not partnered for the first time. Way back in 2001, The Rock appeared on stage with Bill Gates to announce the original Xbox back at CES that year. Now getting him on board for this new charity campaign will help the company to increase the visibility of this charity, as The Rock has more than 200 million followers on Instagram.
