Rick And Morty Movie 'Will Happen', says show's Producer

With its fifth season, Rick and Morty – an American adult animated sci-fi sitcom – is gearing up for its long-awaited return to the small screen. But along with this its huge fan base is thinking that when a Rick and Morty movie will make its debut on the big screen.

And while addressing the same rumors show’s producer Scott Marder, writer Dan Harmon and Spencer Grammer has hinted that a movie might be on the cards and could happen in near future.

In an roundtable interview with Metro, show producer Scott Marder discussed the possibility of Adult Swim series on the big screen (about Rick and Morty movie), and said:

“It’d be daunting, I wouldn’t be shocked if there was one that comes down the pipe one day.”

“I feel like every episode is a movie. I’d like to see what a movie would be, I feel like we pack so much in. It’d have to be pretty epic.”

Spencer Grammer, aka the voice of Summer in the show, added:

“It’d have to be something so big – like a 3D interactive movie that also has a theme park. I don’t know if you could just do a straight movie.”

“There’s just so much in each episode that’s canonical as well and continues to build on itself over these many seasons. It’d be difficult to feel satisfied with just a movie.”

Further Scott Mardar added: “I think it will happen. I do think it will happen.”

And when questioned whether Rick and Morty movie would be live-action or animated, Grammer said “it would be animated.”

However, there’s no confirmation on Rick and Morty movie nor is it in any form of production at the time of writing, but Justin Roiland, aka the voice of the titular characters, also said that “he’d be up for it, it seems it’s more a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’.”

As for the show’s future on the small screen, seems to be secure. As Adult Swim has already ordered 70 future episodes in 2018. And also writer Alex Rubens has recently shared that there’s really no rest for the team as they are busy writing season 7 of the show.

Well for now Rick and Morty season 5 is set to premiere in the US on 20 June, before dropping on E4 and All 4 at some point later this month.
