Elon Musk Says to Double Launchpad usage for SpaceX with Super Heavy Coming soon

SpaceX has exciting new plans to significantly ramp up its Starship development program in several ways. The company will try to make benefit from its two launch pads as stated in the tweet of Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX, on Thursday at its development facility in Boca Chica, Texas in few months with its prototype rockets ready on each and will begin Super Heavy Booster’s flight testing to start with low altitude hops.

SpaceX SN9 on Line

Pad B at Texas testing facility situated at the Gulf of Mexico was used to set up Space X SN9 prototype of Starship which is ninth in the current series. This model SN9 will go under testing after its predecessor SN8 reaches an altitude of 40,000 feet successfully and then execute a crucial belly flop maneuver which will aid to control the powered landing of the production version. Although SN8 was not 100% successful as it was destroyed when it touched down harder than calculations but all its testing goals were achieved by SpaceX during the flight.

SN9 – Ground Testing

But for now, SN9 will be under its ground testing before it makes its way to a flight later on. This will help the team with essential information to carry the tests forward and achieve the ultimate goal of accomplishing orbit with a Starship prototype vehicle. So the two launch pads at the Boca Chica site – Pad A and Pad B will hold the two prototype models as per tweet of Elon Musk to show that pace of these test flights would boost up which could help SpaceX match the fast clip at which they are constructing new rocket iterations.

Super Heavy in 2021

And it is a piece of exciting news for SpaceX and Starship as well as for Elon Musk in 2021 as they will be testing Super Heavy booster that will be used to fly Starship for orbital launches that will help to propel the vehicle into deep space for destination including Mars. Super Heavy will include 28 Raptor engines and will be 240 feet tall to provide it with the lift capacity required to break Earth’s gravity when it’s stacked with a Starship loaded down with cargo.
