Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel film release date announced along with visuals

Update: On Friday, July 29th, the first teaser trailer from the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel movie has been released, which showcases the movie’s protagonist, Yuta Okkotsu (will be voiced by Megumi Ogata), along with the spirit that protects him, Rika.

Original Article: During the Juju Fes event on Sunday, it was announced that the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie will be released on December 24, giving a Christmas present for Japanese Fans. The movie also teased fans with the movie visual. The film is based on the Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School manga by Gege Akutami and serves as the prequel to the main story. The movie will be produced by MAPPA and will be distributed by TOHO. Unfortunately for the international fans, there is no announcement regarding the overseas release of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie yet.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 – Plot

The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a prequel to the main Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Our protagonist Yuta Okkotsu is an anxious high schooler, whose childhood friend Rika Orimoto is turned into a special grade spirit after her death in an accident and is now staying with Yuta. He is confined at Jujutsu High after a bloody incident at his school and Gojo Sataru is taking care of him. The rest of the story in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is about Yuta learning to become an exorcist and confronting the curse hanging around him.

No season two updates yet

Even though there is enough material in the manga and the huge success of the first season there were no announcements regarding the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen anime. One of the main reasons could be a lot of other works MAPPA is making. The studio has Attack On Titan and Chainsaw Man adaptations in work and with the announcement of the Jujutsu Kaisen prequel movie it is unlikely that we will see any announcement on season 2 of the main Jujutsu Kaisen anytime soon.
