AnimeJapan 2021 expo has acquired a new shape with the exhibitions, stage appearances, performances and business collaborations being streamed online and on Friday, Netflix announced around 40 anime projects for 2021. This sure is Netflix’s move to step up in anime game with almost double titles announced this year as compared to 2020.
“We want to be able to pride ourselves as being the top entertainment destination with good quality content. The growth of our business is directly connected to the growth of our anime.”– Taiki Sakurai, Chief Anime producer, Netflix.
The list contains The Way of the Househusband, Yasuke, Eden, Record of Ragnarok, and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.
The way of the Househusband will start streaming from April 8th with former yakuza member, doing chores in his own gangster-ish manner. As for Yasuke it tells the story about the first black samurai in an alternate Japan. Eden, releasing on May 27th, follows two androids raising a human born in a far flung dystopian setting.
With Yasuke and Eden Netflix is trying to diversify their list of creators by working with top-notch creators around the world. Record of Ragnarok will try to figure out the fate of humanity with the result coming out of one-on-one battle between Gods and human. Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is the anime adaptation of world renowned game franchise.
Netflix has dozens of project planned for this year including shows based in The Witcher, Godzilla, The Terminator and Lara Croft.
