After a couple of coronavirus-related delays in production last year, Netflix’s second season of The Witcher adaptation is now filming without any problems. And new details from the set are suggesting that some villains from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (the Red Riders of Eredin or the Wild Hunt) can make their TV debut through The Witcher season 2.

As reported by Redanian Intelligence, the new photos from the set of the show’s current filming location, Saunton Sands, Devon, UK are showing heavily armored warriors on horses with “trademark all-black armor, eccentric weaponry, and the skeletal horse cuirasses”. Fueling fans to think that these could be villains from The Witcher 3. And the latest casting of new stars, which is reportedly set to bring a range of familiar characters to life in this season, is adding more fuel to these speculations.

The site has also stated that the filming time of these sequences is smaller, so whatever this ends up being called, it won’t be playing any huge role. (Spoilers) In the books and game, the Wild Hunt set their sights on Ciri and her Elder Blood. Hoping that the power that comes from her blood would allow them to invade our world. However, The Witcher Season 2 starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia and Freya Allan as Cirilla “Ciri” is stated to be released sometime later in 2021 on Netflix and will have eight episodes in total. With few sources stating that its filming will be wrapped sometime in July 2021, we can expect season 2 to release sometime in August 2021.

Additionally, Netflix is working on a prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is set 1200 years before the events of the main series. And so far its cast includes, Jodie Turner-Smith who is set to play Éile, “a fierce warrior with the voice of a goddess,” and Viking actor Laurence O’Fuarain will be in the lead role and will play Fjall in this prequel series.
