After sending Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris into space in a new trailer for the Fast and Furious 9 (F9). Director Justin Lin was asked if a crossover between the Fast and Furious franchise and the Jurassic Park films could happen in upcoming films. On which Lin replied, “Well, I’ve never said never to anything.”
As revealed in the new trailer for F9, the F&F franchise has finally made its way to outer space, after actor Ludacris teased it last year. Hinting that when it comes to the Fast and Furious franchise there’s everything on the table from Physics defying stunts using magnets to outracing man hunting Dinosaurs. Yeah, you heard it right the Dinosaurs!
We live in a world where the crossover between Studio’s popular franchises is becoming a thing now. And with Universal Studios being the home of both the Fast and Furious franchise and the Jurassic Park films, director Justin Lin was directly asked if crossover between these two is going to happen or not. On which Lin said encouraging the idea that:
“Well, I’ve never said never to anything,” Lin said at the virtual press conference (thanks ComicBook). “And the fact that part of our philosophy is not to ever be boxed in or labeled. And that’s all I will say.”
Michelle Rodriguez aka Letty, who also appeared at the virtual press conference seemed to be fully on board with the crossover idea.
“I love it, dude! I’m all in! We were talking about this yesterday. It’s so funny, but I was talking about this yesterday. Because once you reach a certain pinnacle, there’s nowhere to go but to cross-brand and merge, it’s what big corporations do with each other when they get too big, you know what I mean?” she said. “You just have to brand and merge with each other. But the only thing standing in the way is lawyers and studios. Because usually the brands that you’re trying to merge belong to different studios or whatever. But it’s under the same umbrella. I don’t know. I’m just saying. It works.”
Well with only two films left (F10, F11) in the Fast and Furious franchise along with some from the spinoff series Hobbs & Show, there’s no further info about if Universal is considering Jurassic World crossover.
Meanwhile, watch the latest trailer for the Fast and Furious 9 (F9), dropped ahead of its Friday, June 25, 2021, release date, which now seems to final one now after many coronavirus-related delays.
As for the next Jurassic World film, Jurassic World: Dominion, is due to debut in theaters on June 10, 2022.
