The new special episode is from director Takashi Sano, director of Tower of God.
The mini episodes of Rick and Morty turn into a series of their own, showcasing different styles of art and direction, and filling the void between seasons. The latest comes from anime director Takashi Sano of Tower of God and sends Rick and Morty on an adventure in beautiful Tokyo.

Rick and Morty finished airing their fourth season at the end of May. Dan Harmon, co-creator of the San Diego Comic-Con released a clip of animated storyboards from the upcoming fifth season on Adult Swim Twitch event.
“We ‘re basically done writing it; the only exception is that I get these Zoom edit sessions where we’re kind of finalizing the season 5 final,” Harmon said. “It’s a crazy situation to be in because this show has notoriously kept everyone on schedule.”
