Japanese news website, Oricon recently released the list of top-selling manga for the first half of 2021. The list tracks the manga sales from Nov 23, 2020, to May 23, 2021, with both sales ranking by volume and by individual series.
Top of the list
Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer continues its success streak, with its first position in the top-selling manga list, with 26,351,483 copies sold. Not only manga but Demon Slayer’s light-novel also ranking first in sales. With its movie, making waves across the world, Demon Slayer is leading in every department so far.
Not far behind in the top-selling manga list, we have Jujutsu Kaisen in second place with massive 23,797,483 copies sold. The first two manga are dominating the charts with several times more sales than any other manga on the list. Though other mangas are also doing great on the top-selling list, with Tokyo Revengers in third place with 5,007,825 copies sold and Attack on Titan in fourth place with 4,635,754 copies sold.
What can we expect in the future?
So far we’ve only seen the result of the first half of 2021 and a lot of speculations can be made for the rest of the year. In the list, almost all the manga have an ongoing or recently aired anime show, which clearly had an impact on sales, except Chainsaw Man, which was in fifth place with 4,181,650 copies sold, has an anime is in production and there is a huge chance that we can see a bump in its manga sales.
